© Copyright 2011 Guy’s Academy Hair, Skin & NailsATTENDANCEStudents are required to attend a minimum of 80% of scheduled hours in order to be considered maintaining satisfactory attendance progress.  Progress reports are used to evaluate satisfactory progress at each evaluation period.  Attendance rate is calculated by dividing actual hours by scheduled hours from the beginning of the course.  Maintaining a minimum of 80% attendance the student will complete the course within the maximum time frame allowed.  MAXIMUM TIME FRAMEMaximum time frame is measured at 100% attendance of scheduled hours and may not exceed 150% of the NACCAS approved program length.Maximum Time AllowedCosmetology (Full time, 35 hrs/wk)- 1500 64 weeks    2250 scheduled hoursEsthetics (Full time, 35 hrs/wk) -900         39 weeks    1350 scheduled hoursGuy’s Academy does not offer part time schedules.  Maximum time allowed for transfer, students will be determined based on 80% of the scheduled hours.Guy’s Academy is a clock hour school utilizing an electronic time clock to record student hours.  Students are required to clock in and sign in upon arrival, lunch breaks and leaving for the day.  Course hours are as follows:Cosmetology students enrolled prior to January 1, 2012:  Tuesday - Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pmCosmetology students enrolled after January 1, 2012:Tuesday - Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pmEsthetics students:  Tuesday – Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pmStudents scheduled to arrive at 8:00 am:   School begins daily at 8:00 am, any student arriving after 8:00 am is tardy and will not be considered for any reward, program or privilege requiring 100% attendance.  Students must arrive before 8:30 am to be admitted for the day.  Students arriving after 8:30 am will not be admitted and will be considered absent.Students scheduled to arrive at 9:00 am: School begins daily at 9:00 am, any student arriving after 9:00 am is tardy and will not be considered for any reward, program or privilege requiring 100% attendance.  Students must arrive before 9:00 am to be admitted for the day.  Students arriving after 9:00 am will not be admitted and will be considered absent.Students not attending school should call (318) 865-5591 ext 229 before 8:30 am. Saturday is one of the busiest days of the week in the beauty industry therefore, students will be limited to missing no more than three Saturdays in a contract term. An incomplete Saturday will count as an absence.  Any student exceeding three absent Saturdays may be terminated.   Leaving at any time during the day except for lunch and approved breaks requires the completion of an early out form.  These forms are used in case of emergencies and to notify the staff of a students absence.  Completed early out forms are to be turned in to student services office.  Attendance adjustment fees are $12.00.  A missed swipe occurs when a student fails to clock in or out properly.  Attendance adjustments may be made to students record with documentation of attendance and proof of adjustment fee payment.  Missed swipe information will be posted at the time clock and it is the responsibility of the student to take appropriate action.   Attendance adjustments must be made prior to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, following the week in which the missed swipe occurred..Students will only receive hours that are electronically recorded.  . MINIMUM ATTENDANCE POLICYMinimum attendance standard is 80%.   Students attending at a rate of less than 100% will be unable to complete their course of study by the calculated completion date.    Students are required to make up any written/practical assignments missed within 30 days of any absence. LUNCH AND BREAKSFood, beverages, and gum chewing are not permitted in student salon spa or classrooms.  Meals must be eaten in the student lounge at designated lunch and break times.  Esthetics/Cosmetology students12:00-1:00 Tuesday thru Saturday (enrolled after January 2012)Cosmetology students12:00-1:00 Tuesday thru Thursday(enrolled prior to January 2012)12-00-12:30 Friday and Saturday                                 Guy’s Academy provides a refrigerator, microwaves, and vending machines for the convenience of the student body.  Students are responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary lounge area.  Food particles and dishes are not to be left in the sink, refrigerator or freezer.  The refrigerator is emptied daily.  Guy’s Academy is not responsible for any item left in the student lounge.  Students are required to clock and sign out each day for lunch.  Any exception to a scheduled lunch break must be authorized by a staff member.  Any student taking an unauthorized lunch break will be dismissed for the day.Students will be given a 15 minute break each morning and afternoon.  Breaks are a privilege not a requirement therefore break times may be adjusted or denied at the discretion of Guy’s Academy staff.  Students are not required to clock or sign out during approved breaks however, must remain on campus.  If leaving the campus students must complete an early out form, clock and sign out and will be considered absent for the remainder of the day.   The campus is defined as the building and within 25 feet around the building.
